Exploring the realm of liquidity from natural, historical, and phenomenological perspectives, the Liquidscapes project probes the very essence of fluidity. Filmed at Fort van Ertbrand, a once-military bastion ensconced by water, situated on the fringes of Antwerp, near the Dutch border. The fortification was completed in 1912, prior to the outbreak of World War I. Secluded and veiled from access for over seven decades, this site has undergone a remarkable transformation, now harmoniously integrated into a flourishing nature reserve, seamlessly woven into the fabric of the surrounding environment.
Beyond its historical narrative, this collection of works presents a rhythm analysis of sites that bear profound historical relevance. The interplay of water and light engenders an ambience that marries the allure of mainstream cinema with the essence of romantic painting. The images presented, seemingly ordinary at first glance, purposefully blur the lines of certainty, compelling the viewer to embark on a deeper introspective quest, constructing their own suppositions. Thus, the observer is beckoned to navigate the intricate terrain of presentation and representation, unravelling the multifaceted layers of display and the intrinsic values of aesthetics.
